If you are feeling a little unwell, there are several things you can do to help you feel better.

🛌 Rest & recovery

  • Get plenty of rest. Your body needs energy to fight the infection.
  • Avoid strenuous activities and try to sleep more than usual.

💧 Hydration

  • Drink lots of fluids like water, herbal tea, or clear broths.
  • Avoid alcohol and limit caffeine, as these can dehydrate you.

🍲 Nutrition

  • Eat light, nourishing meals if you have an appetite. Think soup, toast, or bananas.
  • If you’re not hungry, focus on hydration and small snacks.

🌡️ Manage symptoms

  • Use over-the-counter medications like paracetamol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen to reduce fever and body aches (unless advised otherwise by a doctor).
  • Consider decongestants or throat lozenges for comfort.

🦠 Avoid spreading it

  • Stay home until at least 24 hours after your fever breaks.
  • Cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.
  • Wash your hands frequently and avoid close contact with others.

📞 Know when to seek help

  • See a doctor if you:
    • Have trouble breathing
    • Experience chest pain
    • Are at higher risk (e.g., elderly, pregnant, chronic illness)
    • Aren’t improving after 3–5 days
